POPEYES - TORONTO, ON

Earlier tonight I was at Popeyes Chicken &Biscuits 62 Overlea Boulevard, East York, ON M4H 1C4 Phone: (416) 696-2786. I saw the cooks use the buttermilk brine previously used for soaking the chicken being mixed together to make the buttermilk bisquits. Not only does this dairy buttermilk stay out but it also gets mixed with the salmonella chicken. It is a statistically proven fact the procedure for halal chicken used contains 3x more potential salmonella than other.

I addressed the staff about this and they initially pretended not to understand english. After some time, I recieved a laugh from someone in the back and he said something to the counter person I was trying to talk to. The counter person smiled and said to come back tomorrow at 9:00pm to talk to the owner.

I found out this owner owns about 9 other stores in Toronto. I am sure this unsanitary practice is being done at those other stores.

I felt insulted because I demanded a higher level on sanitation the staff at Popeyes and the owner have by the reactions. I was denied my money returned because I was not happy with the sanitation and refused to get sick from the food. I felt I was targetted because of my race and not capable of speaking some forgeign language.

I called Popeyes head office and I was refused any sympathy because this Popeys is a franchise owned and they don't have authority to ensure rules. They told me to call up the store.

I seen 2 other restaraunts in the area closed recently due to sanitation problems in the same plaza.
