BIG Ripoff for "TV Repair"
I sent my 51" Rear projection tv to Westcoast
for repair of the well documented 10 blink
problem of it's make. After a $270 bill for
replacement lamp and labour the problem
persisted. I called Pete at Westcoast and he
said he did replace the lamp as that was the
cause of the problem. According to Sony and
many other repair sites the problem was with
a few diodes on the board that handles the
high voltage. Pete had no idea what I was
talking about and asserted replacing the lamp
was the proper repair.
now it gets good....
My tv is a rear projection tv and has THREE
CRT TUBES to project the picture, it has ZERO
lamps to replace at all!! His lamp
replacement may be valid if it was a DLP
projection tv but not for a rear projection
unit!! Pete said he ordered another part he
wanted to try and he'd call me when it came
in.
In the meantime I called B-Tech repair and
the tech from there confirmed there's no
lamps to replace and came out and repaired
(in my home) my tv in a matter of 90 minutes
and I've had no issues with the tv since and
it's been about 3 weeks. Also there was quite
a few years worth of dust inside my tv (and
ALL the components) so it's safe to say that
Pete didn't even open up my tv to "repair" it
or replace anything!!
I still haven't received the call from Pete
regarding the part he ordered and I doubt
I'll get that call anyway.
STAY AWAY FROM WESTCOAST MOBILE TV REPAIR if
you actually want your tv repaired and in
working condition!!!
