BUDGET CAR RENTAL COLLEGE & SPADINA - TORONTO, ON

This location is extremely bad. I extended my rental time and received threatening phone calls from the manager, sounding like he was a criminal, which I would not be surprised if he was. They over-charged two credit cards way over the amount that should have been charged, causing one of my cards to be closed. I reported it to Capital One and they were of no help.

I've rented from many car companies including Budget with very little to complain but this location is in a different world all together. It seem like they actively try to s*** people over.

Being in Toronto for one day, I naively walked into their office and asked for their rate for an economy car. The guy in front said $36/day pretty high but what the hell, I'll take. The guy asks for a driver license and credit card and goes about his business and pulls up a bill and the total is $62. I looked puzzled and say why is it so high. He then mentions that there is a $10 "Convenience Fee" at this location being in such a great location. "Shouldn't you mention this with the price"? I say which he replies "It's pretty standard" (which is not). I then say ok thank you, I'll look around - which to my dismay he replies back "I've already registered you in the system, you must pay"!!!!! No joke!!!! An argument and some haggling later and he finally "figures out" how to cancel the order. Never felt a business could be so shady in their dealings.

I would never rent from this location again. I have been renting cars for years from budget and have never had any issues the people at this location are rude and dishonest. I was dissappointed last time I rented and was given a fifty dollar certificate and told that this kind of treatment is unusual, so I rented again and had the same experience. I was stuck in traffic on the 400 and unable to return my car on time I called in and was told that you are given a 29 minute grace period and that I would be charged for the extra day. I feel that considering I rent cars every second weekend customer loyalty would mean something but it didn't. I said I would keep the car an extra and upon returning the car with a full tank I was told to produce my gas receipt as well as would be charged an additional late fee (even though I had extended the rental). When I said that I would not pay the additional fee I was told to get out of the store as soon as my receipt was printed. I have spent well over 5000 dollars on rental cars over the last 7 years and would have happily continuted renting with budget. However I will rent from E. from now on and happily pay the extra amount for good customer service.

I have rented here several times, but after this most recent rental , I will never do so again. The car that I received had food crumbs in it and an odd smell. I didn't think this was a big deal but when I returned it, a week later, they charged ME $110 cleaning fee. Not only this, they send the car to someone else to clean it, and so I have no way of knowing who drives it to that location and what they might have done to incur such an exorbitant fee. When I originally returned the car, someone got in and started it to check the gas guage, and never said anything about it being unclean. I find it extremely disconcerting that they feel completely comfortable tacking on outrageous fees after the car is out of my possession. This location has extremely bad service and I will never rent from there again.
