JOHN HOWIE
5.0 Dec 10, 2021 11:07:29 AM

My stay at the lhsc began on the 28th of November 2012. I was admited for an BK amputaion. I was moved to the Orthopedic wing on the 9th floor. There I experienced a truely caring, compassionate, and wonderful team of some of the best nursing and staff that I have witnessed in the 13 hospitals I have been in over the years. I would like to thank the nursing department for the choice of nursing staff theuy were all great and Sunny "Korean nurse and I had a little in common as I speak a little Korean. The housekeeping staff were wonderful and they too were a good p[art of the recovery.

On the 17th of January I was assessed for The Rehab. Centre ar St Josephs' , Park Wood Hospital, I was admited to rehab on the the follwing Monday the 21st. I was excited about this and was determined to do the best I could.
I received my new prosthesis on Wed the 23 of Jan, and I was discharged on the 6th of Feb. Yesterday.

I would like to say that I was very impressed with the personal care given to each patient. At the Vic on the 9th floor, however, I had an equal amount of personal care while in rehab. The Dr's, Nursing staff, OT, Physio staff, Rec staff, Food services (Thanks Jermey), Housekeeping, (Thanks Ory), Volunteer's (Thanks Randa), The snack abnr staff (Thanks Mary Loo and Bill).
I would like to give a special thanks to Karen my nurse.
She kept on me about keeping my leg up she did more for me then I coulad have imagined or expected from any Medical Facility.
Thanks for being there.

Special thanks goes out to Kyle. After seeing his production on foot care for diabetics. It opend my eyes to all things I have been doing wrong. Looking after my left foot is now my priority and keeping the skin, dry.

Last of all the man who took the time and repetedly told me to slow down or I would pay for it in later.
My PT. Mr. Peter Cox. It is because of my desire to heal that I sometimes forget that it takes time and patients. Getting through rehab as soon as I could was my objective. I was determined to do the best I could; I gues it is the old soldier in me.
Peter gave me the tools and the options to healing and he allowed me to make the choices, to which he was right. I paid for it later. However, my mistake was a very good learning experience.

In closing I would like to say That both the 9th floor at LHSC and The Rehab Centre at Park Wood excedded the health care I have ever seen in any of the hospital I have been admited too.

I am sorry if I did not mention all the names of the great people that inspired me and motivated my recovery. To all of you THANK YOU for improviming my quality of Life.

All of these people love what they do and they all deserive recognition
John B. Howie CD,

John.
